Problem Discovery

Job seekers spend hours on repetitive applications while feeling uncertain, and anxious in their process.

We set out to simplify the journey, from discovering relevant roles to preparing applications, and tracking progress.
02Our Assumptions

We mapped our early assumptions to identify which challenges needed to be validated through user research.

03Validating our assumptions

Interviews and surveys confirmed that job seekers struggled with repetitive applications, repeated data entry, unclear job fit and fragmented tracking.

Conducted online interviews and surveys with a large group of target users to understand jobseekers main pain points.

04

Other key insights found were that...

• Trust concerns — Skepticism about fake job listings, unclear security policies, and lack of transparency hinder trust. • Irrelevant job suggestions — Users feel overwhelmed by job listings that don’t align with their skills or preferences.
05User Archetypes

Two user archetypes shaped our design decisions.

The research represented two different needs: an experienced professional managing multiple applications and a recent graduate needing more guidance and confidence.

Persona 2
06Competitor Analysis

Competitor analysis showed that Indeed, LinkedIn, Seek and Jora provide useful features but lack a balance of smart AI, simple filtering and clear application tracking.

This created an opportunity to connect job discovery, application support and progress tracking in one experience.

How might we use AI to simplify applications and help job seekers apply with greater confidence?

09Prioritization Matrix

We prioritised the highest-value features for the MVP.

An impact–effort matrix helped us focus on personalised job matching, application tracking, resume support and interview preparation.

10Design approach

Through idea exploration and user research, we identified five core solutions

• Application Tracking — Track applications and statuses • AI Resume and Cover Letter Tools — Create, tailor and improve application documents • AI Interview — Practise interviews and receive feedback • AI Skill Match and Auto-Apply — Match skills with relevant roles and automate applications • Notifications — Receive application updates and opportunities
11UI Design

Bringing initial ideas to life with our first design iteration.

The first iteration brought job discovery, application support and progress tracking together within one consistent interface.
12User test

Testing revealed an unclear starting point.

Participants were asked to go through the entire flow — from sign-up to exploring the dashboard and trying the AI Jobs Suggestions — and share what felt clear, confusing, or unexpected. Users understood the Applications hub, but many were unsure what to do after signing in and felt overwhelmed when asked to complete their Bio before seeing job suggestions.
13User Feedback

“I thought I’d see job suggestions right away, but I had to figure out where to start. It felt overwhelming.”
14Iterations & Design Improvements

User testing revealed that users wanted immediate job suggestions, but the system needed Bio data to provide meaningful, personalised matches.

To improve the experience, we: • Made the Bio the first step after sign-up • Added progress indicators to guide users • Renamed “Dashboard” to “Applications” to clarify its purpose
15Impact

After iteration, follow-up testing showed clearer navigation and satisfaction

• Users felt guided instead of lost. • Job suggestions appeared at the right moment — once user profiles were ready • Task completion time improved by 15% Additionally, our AI Job Suggestion feature, powered by Bio data and the AI-driven Skill Match & Apply system, reduced job browsing time by 10%, helping users reach relevant jobs faster with less friction.
16KEY FLOW CHANGES

We introduced a clearer path from sign-up to personalised recommendations

17What we learned

Combining AI automation with human-centred design improved users’ confidence.

We learned that a well-designed, AI-powered platform that blends automation with human-centered design can simplify complex workflows, keeping users confident, informed, and in control throughout every stage of their job search, from discovering opportunities to preparing for interviews.

Problem Discovery

Job seekers often spend hours applying while feeling uncertain, anxious, and lacking confidence in their process.

Our team set out to build an AI job platform from the ground up, a one-stop solution that simplifies the job-seeking journey, from creating a strong application to managing interviews and offers.
02Our Assumptions

Before starting our research, we wrote down what we thought might make job searching hard for job seekers of different ages and experience levels.

These guesses helped us decide what to focus on in the next steps.

Other key insights found were that...

• Trust concerns — Skepticism about fake job listings, unclear security policies, and lack of transparency hinder trust. • Irrelevant job suggestions — Users feel overwhelmed by job listings that don’t align with their skills or preferences. What Users Said: • “It takes me hours to apply to just a few jobs. Each site wants the same info in a different format.” • “I don’t even remember which jobs I’ve applied to anymore. I just bookmark them or try to keep track in a spreadsheet.” • “Sometimes I’m not even sure if I meet the requirements. The job descriptions are vague or way too demanding.” • “There’s no clear way to know if I’m a good fit before I apply—I waste time on jobs that aren’t right for me.”

Learning from users: Testing & refining our design

To evaluate how clear and intuitive the MVP experience was, we conducted usability testing with real job seekers after completing the first version of the platform. Participants were asked to go through the entire flow — from sign-up to exploring the dashboard and trying the AI Jobs Suggestions — and share what felt clear, confusing, or unexpected. • Users quickly understood that the Dashboard was the main hub • Many users were confused about what to do immediately after signing in • Some felt overwhelmed when asked to complete their Bio before seeing any jobs
13User Feedback

Validating Our Design Decisions

To deeply understand user perceptions, we collected qualitative feedback throughout the sessions. These insights showed us that while the value of the platform was clear, the starting point and flow needed improvement. • “I thought I’d see job suggestions right away, but I had to figure out where to start. It felt overwhelming.” • “I like that everything is tracked in one place. I don’t need my spreadsheet anymore.” • “Once I completed my Bio, the suggestions made sense — but I wish I’d gotten there faster.”
14Iterations & Design Improvements

User Testing revealed that Users Wanted to see Job Suggestions Immediately, but the System Needed Bio Data for Meaningful and personalized Matches.

Our solution: • Make the Bio page the first step after sign-up. • Added progress indicators to guide users step-by-step • Renamed Dashboard → Applications to clarify its purpose as a management hub, not a starting page
15Impact After Iterations

After iteration, follow-up testing showed higher clarity and satisfaction:

• Users felt guided instead of lost. • Job suggestions appeared at the right moment — once user profiles were ready • The flow reduced overwhelm and boosted trust in the platform. • Task completion time improved by 15% • User success rate improved by 25% Additionally, our AI Job Suggestion feature, powered by Bio data and the AI-driven Skill Match & Apply system, reduced job browsing time by 10%, helping users reach relevant jobs faster with less friction.
